Jay Lethal was a guest on Dave Meltzer’s Wrestling Observer Live Sunday evening after the Sacrifice PPV. Here are the highlights:
- Lethal said he was always doing Randy Savage impersonations backstage, and it was Kevin Nash’s idea for him to do it on television.
- Lethal said he got in contact with Savage through an intermediary, but he isn’t convinced he actually spoke to Savage for his approval.
- “Not yet, I hope so,” said Lethal when asked if there has been talk of Savage coming back to TNA for a cameo appearance.
- He realizes the Black Machismo gimmick will be a short lived spoof.
- Lethal said he idolized Savage growing up.
- He said he enjoyed his Sacrifice PPV match, and though the fans were really into it.
- Lethal said he attended a Jersey All Pro Wrestling Tough Enough event, and begged his father to take him. He ended up training with JAPW, but moved on to Mikey Whipwreck’s school five months later.
- He said he never wrestled in high school.
- Lethal said Dan Moff and Homicide helped him get his start with TNA.
- He said he feel in love with Chris Benoit watching him a do a snap-suplex in WCW.
- He put over the St. Louis crowd at Lockdown.
- Lethal said he only worked a week in Japan for Zero-One, but a goal of his is to return to Japan.
- Lethal talked about TNA’s upcoming house shows in the Northeast.
- Larry Sweeney is a name mentioned by Lethal that he’d like TNA to possibly bring in.
- He said “Savage” told him to save his money.
- Lethal said Samoa Joe has been helping him behind the scenes, and said he has learned about from him.
- Lethal said he is only 22 years old.
- Lethal said he wished he could take back his first match.
- Lethal put over a four way match involving himself, John Walters, Nigel McGuiness and Doug Williams as a turning point in his career.

Good to see the "Black Machismo" gimmick wont last that long, hopefully his push will continue though
